One night after GW win, boys suffer letdown against Rockets / December 18, 2017
The Halifax County High School varsity boys’ basketball team could not keep the momentum going Saturday night against Person County following the win over GW-Danville Friday night.

The Rockets sizzled early and pounded the Comets, 68-33.

Halifax fell to 3-4.

Halifax ran into trouble early, getting outscored 19-8 in the first period. The Rockets kept the heat on in the second quarter, outscoring Halifax, 15-8.

Halifax faded down the stretch after two games in two days.

Person hit three 3s in the first period alone. It was Person’s second win over Halifax this season.

Halifax floundered in an effort to score. Mike Spraggins and Kendall Dixon had eight apiece, while John Wells and Jordan Williams scored five apiece.

Halifax was out of sorts by the final period, connecting on just five baskets, including one 3-pointer.
