Harlow throws one-hitter in 6-0 win Thursday

Park View girls win one, lose one / April 21, 2010
The Park View Lady Dragons varsity softball team won one and lost one last week. Early in the week on Tuesday they downed their Greensville opponents, 12-1, taking their first win of the season on home turf. Elizabeth Ezell was the winning pitcher, striking out six batters while giving up only two hits.

Park View took a 4-0 lead in the second inning and then scored two more runs in the fourth, making it a 6-1 contest. Greensville scored their only run in the third inning on an error.

Kelsey Bagwell got three hits and three RBI’s to lead Park View’s offense with Ezell also getting three hits. Erin Timberlake and Bianca Rogers each added two hits with Hillary Kidd and Sarah Bailey getting one apiece.

The story was quite different on Thursday, however, as the Lady Dragons fell 5-2 in an away game at Southampton when the Lady Indians took an early first inning 2-0 lead.

Park View fought back with Mercedes King singling while Bagwell and Britiany Farrar both walked. Rogers then got a hit, scoring two runs and tying the score.

But in the next inning Park View’s defense made two errors, allowing Southampton to get three runs. Ezell and Farrar were on the mound for the Dragons.

Last night the Dragons hosted Bluestone and tomorrow they will travel to Brunswick for their next contest.
