Park View jayvees pick up win over Bluestone / November 29, 2017

The Park View jayvee boys basketball team followed in the steps of its varsity program on Monday night, defeating their cross-county rival Bluestone in Skipwith, 67-43.

The win boosted Park View to 1-0; Bluestone falls to 0-1. The game was a non-district matchup for both teams.

The game was up-tempo from the jump. Park View knocked down 21 points in the first, while Bluestone popped 15. The Barons’ Kejuan Hester posted eight, including two three-pointers. Hester was the only Baron to score in double figures.

Josh Boyd led PV with 13 first quarter points, 10 second quarter points and went on to post 30 on the night to lead all scorers. PV’s Jack Janson added six first half points.

The score at the half was 35-20. The second and third quarters put Bluestone in a deeper hole as they came up short 14-5 in the second period and 24-9 in the third.

Nick Johnson scored eight second half points for the Dragons. Boyd added seven in the frame.

Bluestone won the final quarter, 12-7 but the second and third quarters equaled a 38-14 PV advantage and was just too much for the Barons to overcome.

Park View takes on Halifax and Brunswick to conclude the week. Bluestone travels to Charlotte Courthouse next Tuesday to start James River District action against the Junior Statesmen of Randolph-Henry.

PV – L. House 3, J. Lewis 3, J. Janson 6, J. Boyd 30, L. Joyner 6, D. House 2, D. Wilson 2, J. Clary 7, N. Johnson 8.
