The Park View Dragons volleyball team, still smarting from a 0-3 loss to Halifax earlier in the week, rolled over the visiting Franklin Lady Broncos Thursday night in straight sets, winning 25-5, 25-8 and 25-10.

The Dragons’ front line duo of Kaylee Coker and Deaona Watkins played a dynamic game with each player serving up 8 aces and 4 kills. The digging and setting of Tori Powell, Hannah Powell and Carrington Sasser was also instrumental in the victory.

Kaylee Newman (3 aces), Avery Evans (4 aces) and Paige Springer (3 aces) kept the Lady Broncos in a state of befuddlement from the service line.

Park View stats: Kaylee Coker: 8 aces, 4 kills, Avery Evans: 4 aces, Kaylee Newman: 3 aces, Hannah Powell: 1 ace, 1 kill, Tori Powell: 5 aces, 3 kills, Carrington Sasser: 4 aces, Paige Springer: 3 aces, 2 kills, Deaona Watkins: 8 aces, 4 kills

Jayvees buck Broncos

The jayvee volleyball team served up a heaping helping of quality volleyball as they dispatched the Junior Lady Broncos of Franklin High School in straight sets Thursday night at PVHS.

The PV girls took the best of three series in two straight games, winning 25-5 and 25-7.

PV jayvee stats; Kaylin Alexander: 2 kills, Abby Crowder: 5 aces, Meredith Graham: 3 aces, 2 kills, Kaleigh Gill: 6 aces, Morgan Hinton: 2 aces, Grace Walsh: 3 aces

Unfortunately this represents the last game that the Lady Dragons will play until at least Oct. 11 as they have been forced into hiatus due to a possible COVID exposure. Barring unforeseen circumstances the jayvee team will return to action on Oct. 14 on the road at Windsor. The varsity girls will host the Appomattox Regional Governors School on Oct. 12, if the situation allows it. An attempt will be made to make up some or all of the games missed, but if that isn’t feasible the games will be recorded as no-contests.
