Patrick County wins state O-Zone title

Patrick County won the Dixie Youth O-Zone state tournament title Wednesday after beating the Halifax County Dixie Youth O-Zone all stars 7-3 at the Day Complex.

Patrick belted 10 hits and kept Halifax County in check. The locals struggled offensively and had just four hits.

Mason Rush and Logan Smith had one hit apiece and Carter Thomasson had two.

Smith had one RBI and Thomasson two for Halifax.

Halifax use three pitchers to try and contain Patrick.

Drake Puryear worked three innings, allowing two hits and one run. He had one strikeout and walked two.

Logan Clark went two innings. He allowed seven hits and six runs, three earned. He struck out one and walked one.

Lukas Newton pitched one inning. He allowed one hit in his scoreless stint.
