Post 8 finds offense in pair of wins

American Legion Post 8 Junior Legion baseball has rolled out a strong offensive showing lately.

Post 8 defeated Patrick County, 10-9, in eight innings Tuesday at home.

Luke Fulcher and Blake Duffer led the way with three hits apiece. Jackson Newton had two hits. Leo Noblin, Gavin Colwell, Kolby Fisher, Kyle Barker, and Dylan Newton each had one hit.

Fulcher, Duffer and Colwell had two RBI. Fisher and Barker had one.

Jackson Newton came on in relief with only one out in the first inning. He pitched five and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out five and walked one.

Leo Noblin got the win. He worked the final two innings, striking out five and walking one.

The locals beat Big Island Monday, 22-11.

The squad had 17 hits, led by Leo Noblin, Gavin Colwell and Dylan Newton with three apiece. Blake Duffer, Jackson Newton, and Kyle Barker had two apiece.

Nathan Comer and Kolby Fisher each had one.

Colwell and Dylan Newton had four RBI, while J. Newton and Kyle Barker had three. Blake Duffer had two and Noblin, N. Comer and Kolby Fisher had one apiece.

Hancock picked up the win on the mound, working one inning. He had two strikeouts and two walks. Colwell had the save, pitching the final three and two-thirds of an inning. He gave up one run on one hit, with five strikeouts and two walks.

On Saturday Post 8 dropped a doubleheader to the Roanoke Cutters, 9-3 and 15-13.

In the first game, Kyle Barker and Luke Fulcher led the team with two hits. Blake Duffer, Nathan Comer, Jackson Newton, Dillon Fisher and Dylan Newton each had one hit.

Comer delivered two RBI, Fulcher had one.

In game two, Luke Fulcher led the locals with four hits. Blake Duffer, Nathan Comer, Trey Comer, Jackson Newton, Anthony Conner, Kyle Barker, Dylan Newton and Colby Hancock had one hit apiece.

Nathan Comer led the way with two RBI. Blake Duffer, Luke Fulcher, Jackson Newton, Anthony Conner, Kyle Barker, Dylan Newton, and Colby Hancock had one RBI.
