Post 8 finishes on high note

The American Legion Post 8 junior legion baseball team finished on a high note, compiling a 9-7 record in the regular season.

Post 8 split a doubleheader at Christiansburg Saturday.

In the first game Christiansburg defeated Halifax 6-3. Nathan Comer, Gavin Colwell, Jackson Newton had one hit each. Newton had two RBI.

In game two, Halifax rallied with an 8-7 win. Jackson Newton and Nathan Comer combined for six innings. The pitchers allowed seven runs on 11 hits. Gavin Colwell picked up the save, going one inning with one hit allowed.

Colby Hancock led the team with three hits. Dylan Newton and Nathan Comer had two hits. Kyle Barker, Blake Duffer, Kolby Fisher and Trey Comer had one hit apiece.

Hancock delivered two RBI. Nathan Comer and Blake Duffer had one.

Earlier, Post 8 sailed past Rocky Mount, 12-2, in the final home game of the regular season.

Post 8 had seven hits. Luke Fulcher had three and Jackson Newton two. Colwell had two RBI.

Rocky Mount encountered control problems with nine walks issued. Defensive problems by Rocky Mount also contributed, as they had three errors.
