Post 8 finishes regular season with victory over Big Island / July 17, 2017
The American Legion Post 8 Junior baseball team capped a strong regular season with an 7-1 win over Big Island on the road Thursday.

The Legion starts district tournament play at the Halifax County High School field Saturday.

Carlton Redd got the win. Redd worked seven innings, striking out seven. He walked one and allowed six hits. He allowed one earned run.

Post 8 scored twice in the third, adding two more runs in the fifth, had one run in the sixth and two runs in the seventh.

Post 8 collected nine hits, with one double, three steals and two sacrifices.

Blake Duffer went two-for-four with two runs scored, while Shaun Perkins, batting in the three hole, went three-for-three with two RBI.

Zach Lowery scored two runs.
