Post 8 struggles continue against Big Island, 17-13

The early season struggles for the local Americal Legion Post 8 junior legion baseball team continued Thursday, with the local team falling to Big Island 17-13.

Nathan Comer led Post 8 with three hits. Blake Duffer had two hits.

Jackson Newton, Thomas Lee and Kamron Turbeville had one hit.

Newton delivered two RBI. Gavin Colwell and Shabazz Buster had one RBI apiece.

Kyle Barker and Nathan Comer encountered difficulty. The pitchers worked six innings, giving up six runs.

Big Island rallied for seven runs in the seventh, tying the game. Big Island went on to win in nine innings.

A scheduled doubleheader against Christiansburg was rained out Saturday.
