Post 8 thumps Alleghany, Lynchburg in Legion action

The South Boston Junior Legion American Legion team posted a solid 11-5 win over the Alleghany Post 4 Legion team Saturday.

Kashawn Hillard got the win, working five innings. He fanned four, gave up five walks, and limited Post 4 to four hits and three runs. Reliever Jacob McKinney pitched two innings. He fanned two, walked two and allowed five hits and two runs.

Post 8 had plenty of offense.

Will Harris went three-for-three, with three RBI and three runs scored.

McKinney went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Tristan Howerton went 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Andrew Abbott finished one-for-three with two runs scored and an RBI.

Howerton. Harris and McKinney each had doubles for Post 8.

In earlier action, Post 8 battered Post 16 (Lynchburg) by a 19-3 score.

Colby Grissom got the win. He went four innings, with six strikeouts, one walk, three hits and two runs allowed. McKinney finished, fanning one. He did not walk a batter, allowing one run.
Post 8 had a surplus of offense in this win.

Abbott had one hit, scored twice and had an RBI. Howerton went one-for-one with three runs scored and one RBI.

Harris went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI.

Grissom went one-for-two with a run scored and two RBI.

Kelonte Gutrich went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBI.
