Pre-Majors fall in opener

The South Boston-Halifax County Dixie Pre-Majors dropped a 17-10 decision to Texas in first round action at the Dixie World Series in Chipley, Fla.

Virginia played Louisiana Sunday.

Texas took a 2-0 lead, and the locals tied it 2-2. Texas later led Virginia 7-2. The local all-stars scored three runs to cut the lead to 7-5. Texas added three to extend its lead to 10-5.

Then the local all-stars fashioned a terrific rally and tied the game in the bottom of the sixth.

Texas then made a rally and scored seven runs in the top of the seventh.

Virginia could not score in the bottom of the seventh, and Texas held on for the win.

The Virginia Pre-Majors tied the game twice.
