Pre-Majors finish World Series with 2-2 record

SoVaNow.com / July 31, 2014
The South Boston-Halifax County Dixie Pre-Majors had a strong World Series run in Chipley, Fla.

The locals finished fifth with a 2-2 record for the series.

Florida took an early 3-0 lead Monday and then eliminated Virginia, 10-0, after a four-hour rain delay.

Despite the loss, Virginia picked up two quality wins.

Virginia pinned a 6-4 loss on Louisiana the second day. Tripp Bennett worked most of the game on the mound and Ben Major relieved when Bennett reached his pitching totals.

The local all-stars also defeated Alabama, 7-1, after breaking open a close game with a strong sixth inning rally.
