PV golfers cap season with trip to state finals

SoVaNow.com / October 17, 2018

Even though the Park View golf season did not end as well as they hoped, there are two words that sum the season up: hugely successful. The Dragon Golfers finished second in the regular season Tri-Rivers District standings and finished second in the Tri-Rivers District tournament.

This second place finish earned the team a spot in the VHSL 3A Regional Tournament played at Dogwood Trace Country Club in Petersburg. There the Dragons vanquished their foes from Southampton to finish second overall and earn a trip to Williamsburg to play in the VHSL State Tournament for the first time in school history.

Park View traveled to Williamsburg National Golf Club on Sunday, Oct. 7 and completed a practice round that day before the 18-hole state tourney took place on Monday, October 8. According to Dragons Head Coach Tim Moseley, “The team played with the heart and soul they’ve played with all year long. They walked over seven miles on Sunday and again on Monday carrying golf bags that weighed upwards of 25 pounds.” He continued, “ I’m very proud of this team for their accomplishments this year.”

The team carded a four-player score of 371 to finish eighth in the tournament. Individual scores were Jackson Moseley 87, Kelsey Moseley 88, Kenston Hardee 92, Hunter Sykes 104,Patrick Moss 110, and Mason Mills 113. The Williamsburg National Course is a par-72 layout.
