PV Lady spikers shut out Bluestone

The Park View Dragons varsity volleyball team went 1-1 last week in match play at Bluestone and on their home court.
The Dragons girls lost to visiting Halifax on Thursday, 3-0, but defeated Bluestone earlier in the week on Tuesday, 3-0.
In the match versus Halifax, PV fell by scores of 28-26, 25-23 and 25-10. The varsity girls played strong first and second games, but by the third game Halifax was clearly in control.
Dragons head volleyball coach Helen Callahan said the match was competitive — noting that both schools have good programs and she fully expects her girls to bounce back from the loss.
It was a non-district outing for the Lady Dragons.
Park View’s Dare Wright had eight kills on the night, while Haley King recorded 10 digs to aid the Dragon effort.
Halifax’s Cecilie Elliott had some masterful serves in the match, while her teammate Whitney White led the Blue Comets in controlling the net.
The Lady Comets were strong at the net and made some critical front and back line plays at opportune times throughout the three games to secure the victory. Halifax also had strong numbers in aces, kills, serves and attacks.
Halifax head coach Tiffaney Bratton said she was well pleased with her team’s road win.
“We came out a little slow, got our feet wet and then I’m really proud of the way the came together in the second and third games — especially the third game,” Bratton said. “We really dominated.”

PV wins at Bluestone
The Lady Dragons traveled to Bluestone on Tuesday, August 27 and won the match 3-0.
Park View won the highly competitive games by scores of 25-14, 25-21 and 25-19.
Dare Wright had 14 kills and three blocks in the contest for Park View. Wright’s teammate, Brooke Mason recorded a whopping18 assist in the match.

Park View jayvee roundup
According to Coach Callahan, “jayvee volleyball is on a roll.” They beat both Bluestone and Halifax last week.
In Thursday’s match versus Halifax the jayvee ladies won in two games, 25-18 and 25-21. The team was on fire — providing some great sets for the frontline and diving to the floor for any loose balls to save or regain the serve.
Their passing was also controlled and purposeful and produced more than a few opportunities for scoring.
Brooke Tanner had 7 kills in the match. Whitney Bryant, Taylor Walker and Jordan Upton each had 5 kills. Kirsten Bailey and Alexis Finch had 10 and eight assists, respectively
PV vs. Bluestone
The jayvee Lady Dragons won this match in short order with scores of 25-10 and 25-12
