PV volleyball rolls over foes / October 11, 2017
Franklin High School came to South Hill on Thursday night hoping for a road win, but the Park View volleyball team had other thoughts in mind and sent their guests home with another “L” in their record.

Park View won the match in three games, 25-11, 25-10 and 25-13, with Franklin making it interesting only in the third game when they played some great defense against the Lady Dragon front line.

The Dragon girls jumped out to early leads in the first two games and were not seriously challenged from that point on.

After Franklin recorded a pair of powerful blocks in the third game, the Lady Dragons snapped back as Courtlyn Hawkins used solid blocking to subdue the feisty Broncos. Park View moved to a 12-5 lead and were never threatened and won game three 25-13.

Leading the Dragons were Hawkins with 15 kills and 3 blocks, Katherine Mosier with 11 kills, Grayson Hudson with 4 kills, and Ashley Roberts with 4 kills and 18 assists. Rounding out the group effort was Hannah Bailey with 11 assists.

On Tuesday night last week, the Lady Dragons traveled to Surry to face the Lady Cougars and were victorious there as well, winning three games to none in impressive fashion.

The game 1 score was 25-8, game 2 was 25-5 and game three was 25-8

Courtlyn Hawkins 18 kills and 3 blocks followed by Katherine Mosier with 13 kills.

The JV ladies also won both matches besting Surry 25-7 and 25-8 behind Deaona Watkins’ 5 kills and dispensing with Franklin 25-3 and 25-2, bolstered by another strong performance by Deaona Watkins with 6 kills and Carson Wall with 2 kills.

The Lady Dragons next face off against the Brunswick Lady Bulldogs on Wednesday night, October 11 when they will celebrate Senior Night. Note this is a revised date as this game was originally set for October 10.
