Regional matchups set for Comet basketball

SoVaNow.com / February 12, 2018

The Halifax County High School varsity boys and girls basketball teams are playing in the Piedmont District tournament, but both squads are already guaranteed spots in next week’s Region 5D tournament.

The Piedmont District tournament has no bearing on the regionals. Both Comet teams face season-ending games on Feb. 19. But the Comet squads also have the opportunity to advance if the teams win on that date.

Halifax will meet Patrick Henry-Roanoke on the road at 6 p.m. in first round action. The teams used to be district rivals and the Patriots will be a tough out for the Comets.

The Comet girls will meet Albemarle Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. This will also be a very tough assignment for the Comets.
