Comet winter sports action gets under way Tuesday

Halifax County High School winter sports begins Tuesday with both the boys and girls basketball teams, and swimming in action.





Regional play begins for baseball, softball, soccer / May 28, 2014

Three Halifax County High School teams will be involved in Region 5-A tournament action.

Softball and boys soccer will be up first on Friday, with baseball beginning its quest for a state tournament berth on Monday.

The Lady Comets will take on Mountain View Friday at 6 p.m. If the girls win, they will be on the road Monday. If they lose, their season is over.

Also at 6 p.m. Friday, boys soccer will be at home taking on Potomac. Again, the boys win and they will be on the road Monday. A loss ends their season.

By winning the Conference 16 tournament, baseball earned a bye and begins play at home on Monday.

The Comets will play at 6 p.m.

Both teams that make it to the regional finals will earn a bid to the state 5-A tournament.

Softball and soccer will need three wins, baseball will need two to make the state tournament.
