Person County capitalized on a strong rushing attack and the Rocket jayvees overpowered Halifax County High School, 27-14, in South Boston Thursday night.

Halifax was hampered by two pass interceptions early. Meanwhile, a stout Rocket ground game dominated the Comet 3-4 defense.

Comet quarterback Kameron Roberts connected with Savian Howard and Dominic Chandler on touchdown passes.

Person led 14-0 at the half and extended the advantage to 21-0 in the third.

Halifax closed the gap to 21-6. The Comets scored again late in the fourth quarter to make the contest more competitive.
