Six Lady Comets named to all-conference team

Halifax County High School varsity softball had a successful season, rolling to an 18-7 record.

The Comets came within one game of the state tournament, losing in the Group 5-A north regional semifinals.

Six Comets earned all-Conference 16 honors.

The five first team selections are pitcher Taylor Barnes. Junior catcher Ashley Watts, sophomore second baseman Kirsten Doss, junior outfielder Kye-Neisha Logan and junior first baseman Gabby Spainhour.

Senior outfielder Megan Puckett made second team all-conference.

HCHS finished 14-4 in the regular season, 1-1 in the Piedmont district tournament, and won its first two games in 5-A in north regional action.
