Soccer girls play well in 5-3 loss

South Boston News / March 18, 2019
The Halifax County High School varsity girls’ soccer team played well Thursday in a 5-3 loss to Appomattox.

Halifax had two starters out, and that hampered the Comets, according to head coach Sid Young.

But the Comets played hard in the loss. Appomattox was the defending state runner-up in its class.

Izzie Rosche scored twice for the Comets, while Mandy Lewis had one.

Jamie Shelton played keeper and had more than 10 saves.

“(Halifax) played well against a good team. That’s what I was happy about. A lot of positives,” said Comet coach Sid Young.

Young also praised the contributions of freshman Chloe Lacks.

Halifax also lost 4-2 in jayvee action.
