The South Hill Dixie softball league welcomed 14 teams to Parker Park on Friday to compete in the Dixie Softball state playoffs.

As host, both the Darling and Ponytail teams earned direct bids to the tournament.

The Crew-Burkeville Darlings were scheduled to play Fluvanna last night for the opportunity to advance to the World Series.

The South Hill Darlings and Ponytails both saw their state tourney runs come to an end over the weekend.

Dixie District-1 still has two teams in the running for a World Series trip, the Farmville (PEFYA) and Amherst All-Star Ponytails.
