Sturdifen, Roberts earn All-JRD recognition
SoVaNow.com / March 06, 2013Carmen Sturdifen and Bryona Roberts are Bluestone’s lone representatives on the All-James River District girls basketball team announced last week at the conclusion of league action.
Bluestone, which finished as runners-up in the James River District postseason tournament, had one representative on the first team unit, Sturdifen. The senior post player also earned Honorable Mention recognition on the Group A, All-Region B team. Bluestone fell in the opening round of the Region B, Division 2 tournament, losing to Chatham High School 65-40.
Roberts, a guard for the Lady Barons, was the only junior member of the All-James River District second team unit. Two juniors, Takia Williams of Amelia and Ron’nequah Smith of Central of Lunenburg, were selected to the first team.
