Three Lady Comets earn WVD honors / February 18, 2013
Three members of the Halifax County High School girls varsity basketball team earned all-Western Valley district honors, gaining either second team or honorable mention recognition.

Junior Alexia Tucker was a second team all-WVD pick, the lone HCHS player to be so recognized. Two more Comets earned honorable mention recognition: junior Janiyah Logan and sophomore Brittani Boxley.

Franklin County coach Anne Crutchfield is the WVD coach of the year, and FCHS senior Charmaine Hairston was the player of the year.

The first team included Hairston, William Fleming seniors Ryjae Anderson and KeAshe Hayes, FCHS junior Zarkia Mattox, PH senior Jewell Parfitt; Fleming sophomore Desiree Keeling and FCHS sophomore Miranda Crockett.
