Varsity girls soccer falls to Appomattox on road 7-0

The Halifax County High School varsity girls soccer team fell to Appomattox, 7-0, on the road in its season opener.

Appomattox has a very good team, according to Comet coach Sid Young.

Appomattox bolted to a strong early lead and kept the momentum the rest of the way.

Young said Mollie Slate performed well in goal. Jessica Hudson also had a strong effort playing sweeper. Erin Glass also had a fine effort at the stopper position.

Keeley Nelson played the midfield position and the junior had a commendable effort, according to Young.

Abby Catron also contributed at the midfield position.

Halifax returns to action Wednesday, with the home opener against Patrick County.

Appomattox also travels to Halifax Thursday night.

JV REPORT: The jayvee girls won 4-0. Halifax also hosts PC in JV action Wednesday.
