Volleyball rebounds / August 31, 2009
The HCHS varsity volleyball team rebounded from a loss earlier in the week with a solid win over Gretna Thursday.

HCHS won the match, 3-0. The Comets breezed to a game one win, 25-14. HCHS prevailed in game two, 25-22, and closed out the match with a game three win, 25-19.

HC had 77 percent successful serving against Gretna, with 83 percent success passing and 95 percent in setting.

There were widespread contributions.

Melyse Brown had 4 kills, Jamelia Smith had 5. Jessie Bagbey had 12 service pts. and 5 aces. Jameshia Smith had 9 service points and 5 aces.

“Overall a good night,” said Comet head coach Steve Mattox. The Comets “still need to work on back row defense and communication.”

HCHS has two matches this week, both on the road. The Comets travel to Person tomorrow and then play Bluestone Thursday.
