Deshon Dabbs scored a game-high 26 points and Kejuan Mayo provided huge contributions defensively and on the boards, leading unranked Halifax County High School to an electrifying 52-50 upset of no. 4 GW-Danville in double overtime Friday night.

Comets sweep Martinsville in swim meet

The Halifax County High School swim teams served up another sweep in non-district action, dousing Martinsville Thursday night. The Comet girls won 115-53, while the boys edged the Bulldogs, 87-81. “I am very proud of the team and their hard work. Several swimmers beat their previous fastest times and their getting excited because they are really seeing their hard work pay off,” said Comet swim coach Courtney Clementson.
