Lady Comets down Bluestone in volleyball

The very positive vibes from HCHS varsity volleyball continued to build Thursday night. The Comet girls downed Bluestone, three games to one, and improved to 3-2 overall on the season.

Cross country working hard

The Halifax County high school cross country team competed against Tunstall, and GW Danville high schools on Wednesday at Ballou park in Danville. The HCHS boys’ team won the overall meet led by Zack Evans, who placed fourth, and Evin Morrison, who was fifth.

Golf team improves

The HCHS varsity and jayvee golf programs got in some extra work last week, as Comet coach David Graham continues to seek overall improvement in the program. The Comet varsity had a match Tuesday at Greens Folly, with three schools participating.

Lady Comets fall to Rockets

The HCHS varsity volleyball team dropped to 2-2 Tuesday night after losing to a tough Person County team for the second time this season. The Comets lost, three games to none. But the Comets gained a measure of respect by playing competitively.

Cross country splits against Martinsville

The HCHS cross country teams competed against Martinsville High School Monday in their first meet of the season. The girls’ team came away with the win, but the boys lost 15-50. Emily Conner won the girls race, and Zack Evans finished sixth in the boys race to lead the team.

Comets finish second in WVD match

Halifax County’s golf team posted three scores in the 70s Monday to finish in second place in the third Western Valley District regular-season match of the season at Danville Golf Club.
