E.C. Glass, bolstered by clear sailing in the pole vault, downed the HCHS girls’ outdoor track team to claim the Western Valley district meet crown Friday. The Hilltoppers, who are leaving the WVD after this spring, collected 163.33 points to win the title. Glass got valuable points in the pole vault, as the Comets do not compete in that event. But the Comets, who may be positioned to become the new powerhouse in district girls’ track next season and beyond, finished second with 136.33 points, well ahead of the rest of the WVD.
