Lady Comets soccer swamped by Glass

The HCHS varsity girls’ soccer team lost to E.C. Glass, 9-1, in Western Valley district action Friday night. The Comets showed commendable hustle, but there’s still a significant overall gap between these programs.

Jayvees fall 3-0 to Glass

The jayvee Comet girls’ soccer team lost to E.C. Glass, 3-0, in WVD action Friday night. HCHS had several good penetrations in the second half, sparked by excellent hustle from Courtney Young, but could not overtake the Hilltoppers in the second half.

Comets respectable in WVD tennis tournament

The HCHS boys’ tennis performers had a very respectable effort in WVD tournament competition this weekend. In first round action, the Comets’ Jacob Trent downed Franklin County’s Jacques Delport, 6-3, 6-2.

Lady Comets blank Fleming in soccer

The HCHS varsity girls’ soccer team blanked William Fleming, 7-0, in WVD action Tuesday night. Halifax improved to 8-4 overall and 2-4 in the WVD. Halifax has Glass, Franklin County, PH and GW remaining in district play.

Comets fall to PH in tennis

Patrick Henry-Roanoke held serve at home in a key boys’ tennis district match win over Halifax County Monday. The Pats won, 8-1.

Girls tennis finish season with loss

The Halifax County High School Girls’ Tennis team closed out its home season on Monday evening with a disappointing loss to Patrick Henry of Roanoke. The Comets played some of their best matches of the season but fell to the Patriots 1-8. The home team played closely contested matches at the number one position with Jessica Palmer and at number three with Carlene Link. The high point of the evening for the home team was a win at number six by Monika Puckett who went to a third set tie-breaker for the win.

Comets fall to GW in soccer April 24

The HC boys’ varsity soccer team fell to GW-Danville, 3-1, in district action last Friday night.
