Comets fall to 6-0 to PH

The HCHS boys’ varsity soccer team lost to a very strong PH team Tuesday night, 6-0. Halifax played a primarily a defensive game and PH still managed to score four goals in the first half and two more in the second. PH had 25 shots on goal for the game, with Comet keeper Jordan Keck saving 19 of those.

Jayvee girls slog to soccer loss

The HCHS girls’ jayvee soccer team slogged through muddy conditions and gave a very competitive effort against PH-Roanoke Tuesday night. Still, it was not enough. The Comets lost, 4-0, in Western Valley district action.

Girls fall to PH in tennis

The Halifax Comet Girls’ tennis team fell to Patrick Henry on Thursday night by a score of 1-8. The Comets struggled against the more experienced patriot’s team but looked good in a number of matches especially doubles which were closely contested. Brandi Winstead was the sole comet to post a win in a close match against Patrick Henry’s Kim Russell.

The HCHS boys’ varsity soccer team has a new burst of confidence following a 3-0 win over Tunstall Friday night. Just over a week ago, Tunstall downed the Comets, 4-0, but this was a different Comet team.

Girls soccer rebounds from tough FC loss

The HCHS’ girls varsity soccer team rebounded from a tough loss to Franklin County with back-to-back non-district wins. The Comets downed Tunstall, 2-0, in non-district action Friday. Halifax scored both goals in the first half and held off Tunstall, whose only losses this season have come to the Comets. HCHS improved to 7-2 overall, with a 1-2 Western Valley district mark.

Lady Comets fall to Eagles in soccer 3-0

The HCMS girls soccer team fell to 5-2 overall and 1-2 in the district following a 3-0 loss to the Franklin County girls’ varsity Tuesday night at home. HCHS had about 12-15 shots on goal, but could not convert. HCHS trailed 1-0 at the half, after the Eagles did not score until about three minutes remained in the first half.
