Barons fall in rematch at Southampton

The Bluestone Barons dropped a 5-0 decision last Tuesday to the homestanding Southampton Indians, who have jumped out to a fast start with an unbeaten record in Southside District play.

Southampton edged Bluestone, 2-1, in varsity baseball action on Tuesday, March 22. Two days later, on Thursday, the varsity boys traveled to Greensville and lost to the Eagles, 13-3.

Baron baseball team wins one, loses one to open new season

The Bluestone varsity baseball team had an up-and-down first week of the 2011 season, clobbering Cumberland on Tuesday but dropping an extra inning heartbreaker to Central of Lunenburg on Thursday.

The Bluestone Barons struck for three runs in the sixth inning to complete a comeback 8-7 victory over arch-rival Park View on Thursday and solidify a spot in the Southside District postseason tournament.
