Park View’s varsity softball team edged Greensville Monday in South Hill.

Since 2007, the Lake Gaston Soccer Association has brought the youth of Southside Virginia the opportunity to play recreational and competitive soccer year-round on a regulation field that was built through the efforts of the community. Between the spring and fall seasons and the various camps available, more than 300 children from Southside Virginia participate.

Jerry McKinnis, one the three private investors who purchased B.A.S.S. from ESPN in 2010, will speak Friday evening at the Clarksville Community Center to participants in a B. A.S.S. Federation Nation six-man chapter team championship tournament to be held Saturday and Sunday at Occoneechee State Park.
