The Halifax County/South Boston Dixie Pre-Majors opened a best of three series with Mecklenburg Tuesday night with a 10-8 victory.

The South Hill Dixie Majors All-Stars advanced to the championship round of the sub-district tournament underway this week in Chase City, putting the South Hill team only one win away from a trip to the state tournament later this month in Lunenburg.

Halifax County South produced steady offense through the first four innings Monday in the third and deciding game of the Dixie Youth minor league district tournament. HCS rolled to a 13-3 win to claim the crown.

This year’s champions in the Dixie Youth Minor League sub-district tournament will hail from Mecklenburg County, but from which end — Clarksville or South Hill — remains to be seen.
