The Bluestone High School Lady Barons’ season came to an end in the first round of the Southside District volleyball tournament Wednesday as the varsity spikers fell to Southampton in four games, 14-25,16-25, 25-22,11-25.

The Park View Dragons kept possession of the King of the County trophy Friday night as they pounded Bluestone 48-13 behind an effective ground game highlighted by quarterback Daveon Gregory’s three rushing touchdowns.

Fresh off a disappointing loss to Bluestone, the Park View girls volleyball team ventured to Lawrenceville on Thursday to take on the Lady Bulldogs of Brunswick, and the road trip proved to be just the ticket to lift the Lady Dragons’ spirits.

Two days after winning their matchup with Park View, the Lady Barons took their second win of the week against the Nottoway Cougars on Senior Night. The Thursday win raised the Lady Barons’ record to 10-9 overall, 8-5 in Southside District play.
