The South Hill Dixie Ponytails, ages 11-12, were the guests of honor at the monthly meeting of South Hill Town Council on Monday night. Council presented a resolution honoring the Ponytails, who represented South Hll in the Dixie Youth Softball World Series in South Carolina earlier this summer, finishing as runners-up out of a field of 11 teams from across the Southeast. The Bluestone High School varsity volleyball team had a 2-2 record after wrapping up the second week of the season with a victory over Central of Lunenburg on Tuesday and a loss to Randolph-Henry on Thursday.

The Park View Dragons appeared to have victory in their grasp Friday night against Central of Lunenburg, but the cool and collected Chargers had other ideas as they scored the decisive touchdown with 19 seconds left to play for a 25-22 win in the season opener for both teams.
