Worley earns honorable mention all-state honors

William Worley, left fielder for the Halifax County High School varsity baseball team, has earned honorable mention all-state honors. Worley previously was named to the first team of the all-Northwest Regional team. Worley had an outstanding year for the Comets, which reached the Group AAA state quarterfinals before being eliminated by James River. Worley’s teammate, outfielder Tyler Long, was a second team all-state selection.

Stephens on FCS watch list

Morgan State junior linebacker, and former Halifax County High School standout, Allen Stephens was named recently to the preseason watch list for the FCS Linebacker of the Year Award given by the College Football Performance Awards.

Long named to all-state team

Comet Tyler Long has been named second team all-state for baseball. Long earned a spot on the all-state team announced earlier this week. Long, who helped Halifax County High School reach the Group AAA state quarterfinals before a tough loss to James River, had earlier won first team all-region honors. Long batted .383 with 12 RBI for the Comets this season.
