A remarkable run for two Comet girls’ tennis standouts has ended in the Northwest region quarterfinals. The duo of Blair Jeffress and Jessica Palmer fell in regional action Tuesday at the University of Virginia courts in Charlottesville to Albemarle’s top duo, Napolitano and Lesnoff, 6-1, 6-0.

Bagbey named South Region POY

Sophomore Justin Bagbey has another honor to add to his growing list of athletic achievements this year after being named the NCCAA South Region Player of the Year for baseball. Bagbey was named this year’s CIAA Baseball Player of the Year in April after turning in a solid sophomore season. He led the league in homeruns (13) this season and hit at a .437 clip.
