Three issues – including a key late-game defensive adjustment by Southern Durham and a costly late injury hampering Halifax County High School – determined the outcome of the Spartans-Comets girls’ varsity matchup Tuesday night.

The Halifax County High School varsity wrestling team had a slow start this past weekend in the Five Forks Duals in Dinwiddie, but coach Brady Taylor expects the grapplers to have a competitive season.

There are some miles to go before they get there, but the talent level and overall athleticism on this year’s Halifax County High School boys’ jayvee basketball team offers considerable promise for the future.
