The final numbers are in for the 2009 Halifax County High School football team, which went 1-9 overall and 0-4 in the Western Valley district.

Comet jayvees shut down PH 14-0

The Halifax County High School jayvee football team capped a very successful campaign Thursday night with a 14-0 shutout win over PH-Roanoke. The Comets finished 8-1, an impressive turnaround from the previous season. Halifax won only one game last year.

The Halifax County High School Comet cheerleaders did not place in the Northwest Regionals cheerleading competition Saturday, but the Comets managed to accomplish their primary mission on the trip. The Comets outscored district rival Franklin County, getting a measure of redemption after a close loss to the Eagles in the recent WVD competition.

Girls cross country team gain regional experience

The Halifax County High School girls’ cross country program gained valuable experience competiting at the Northwest regional meet.

First round loss ends Lady Comets season

The season is over for the Halifax County High School varsity volleyball team after a first-round WVD tournament loss to Franklin County Tuesday.

Comets want to go out with a win

The HCHS Comet football team seniors will play their final game Saturday against Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke. Seniors include, from left, first row, Chris Watson, Destin Boyd, Chris Thorpe, Dale Trent, Dante Hamlett and Justin Boyd. Second row, Thomas Logan, Demonte Berkley, Devin Walton, Andre Ervin, Dru Henderson, Shaquan Bailey and Lamar Green. Third row, Martel Posey, Zane Long, Scott Rickman, Deion Lipscomb, Iric Webster, Lemal Adams and Markee Brooks.
The season ends Saturday for the Halifax County High School varsity football team. While the Comets have had further slippage in their won loss record, the team has continued to play hard and gave all three of its district rivals a challenging game.

Cheerleaders make regionals

The Halifax County High School cheerleading squad finished second in Wednesday’s Western Valley district competition, but the Comets still advance to the regionals.
