Steve and Karen Schopen organized the Art-themed Breakfast Buffet and donated all the proceeds to the Convergence Art Guild. Guild members helped serve and prepare the fabulous array of food featuring Eggs Benedict. Many of the artists’ works were on display throughout Molasses Grill during the event.

Comets = Dedication
The HCHS varsity baseball team cranks up today at Bluestone, and head coach Kelvin Davis has a key theme in place.
“The key this season…is going to be dedication …. That’s been my main focus, as far as making these guys understand, it’s going to take a lot of dedication on and off the field to improve,” said Davis.

Softball has talent for deep run
Varsity Comet softball reached the second round of the Northwest Regionals last year after a fabled run to the state tournament the previous season. This year, HCHS has plenty of talent back to make another deep playoff run.
But the Comets also had some important seniors leave the program because of graduation, and head coach Melanie Saunders and her staff have some questions to answer.

Lady Comets rebuilding
The HCHS varsity girls’ soccer program is likely looking at a rebuilding campaign, although there is some significant talent returning this spring.
Illness has also hampered the preparations.

Jayvees optimistic
HCHS jayvee girls’ soccer head coach Jessica Hayes has work ahead to assess her squad, although she expressed optimism about the skill level.
“We really don’t have the numbers this year, but we do have a lot of kids with a lot of skill,” said Hayes Monday.
Boys tennis impressive in scrimmage
The HCHS boys’ tennis team downed Randolph-Henry 9-0 in scrimmage action Tuesday.
This is a significant result, given R-H’s recent success, and is a confidence builder for the Comets.
Boys soccer fall in first scrimmage
The Halifax County boys varsity Soccer team was defeated by Heritage last night in their first scrimmage of the year.
Girls tennis 9-0 in first scrimmage
The Halifax County High School Girl’s tennis team opened their season on Tuesday with a scrimmage against Randolph Henry High School. The Comets, playing with a very young squad, ended up with a 9-0 victory. It was a good outing for the Comets who have had to battle the elements to get practice time prior to their first real match experience.
