Solar power coming to Halifax County

Halifax County is poised to become Dominion Virginia Power’s first site for commercial-scale generation of solar power, and if things go well the county could reap an additional reward —becoming home to a battery manufacturer that would employ up to 150 people within three years.

Statement of the Industrial Development Authority

The Industrial Development Authority of Halifax County and Dominion Virginia Power announced Friday plans to develop an initiative to build a pilot demonstration facility for solar power generation and battery storage. The facility would generate about 4 megawatts of power and be the largest integrated solar-battery facility in Virginia.
