Comets earn berth in Classic title game

HCHS shook off a lethargic first half and held off Pamlico County, N.C., in the tourney opener Tuesday, 69-61. The Comets held the visitors in check in the final period and also did enough to counteract Pamlico’s Shane Whitfield, who scored 33 points, including 15 in the final period alone.

Weather forces bloodmobile cancellations

So far blood drive cancellations have resulted in the loss of over 400 pints of blood donations. Fortunately blood donations during November were strong overall and area hospitals were well stocked up to this point.

Lady Comets stomp Gretna

The inside-outside combination for the Halifax County varsity girls’ basketball team clicked repeatedly Tuesday and the unbeaten Comets rolled into last night’s Holiday Classic championship.
