Mecklenburg County public schools spent nearly $150,000 in the past year to save $146,000 in energy costs, according to a report presented to the School Board Monday night.

Man indicted on forcible sodomy charge
A Mecklenburg County grand jury indicted 12 individuals Monday, including Michael Chavolus Hayes for alleged forcible sodomy with an unnamed victim, not his spouse. Hayes was also charged with abduction and kidnapping and malicious wounding of the same victim.
