Pitcher Taylor Barnes and outfielder MacKenzie Lawter have been named to the VHSL All-State Group 5-A team for the Halifax County HIgh School varsity softball team. The Comets reached the Group 5-A North Regional semis again this year, before dropping their final game at Briar Woods.

Lee Pulliam and Matt Bowling were winners in the Late Model Sportsman twin-75 lap races Saturday night at South Boston Speedway.
