Witnesses testify on first day of Terry sentencing hearing

James Lloyd Terry, who faces the death penalty for the 2011 murder of South Boston widow Charlotte Rice, sat quietly in court on Monday as his family and pastor gave testimony on his behalf. Also testifying on the first day of Terry’s sentencing hearing was Judith Thompson, the niece of the slain 84-year-old.

Sentencing hearing set this week in Terry death penalty case

James Lloyd Terry, who pleaded guilty to capital murder in March for the 2011 slaying of 84-year-old widow Charlotte Rice, will return to court this week for a sentencing hearing to determine whether he should receive the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole.
