Betty Anne Redd



Betty Anne Redd of South Boston died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, at the age of 85. Born in Halifax County on Jan. 9, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Albion Clesby “A.C.” Redd and the late Minnie Walker Redd.

Betty considered her children as her greatest gift from God. Known by many as “Mema,” she was a wonderful mother and grandmother to not only her own family but to others as well. Betty was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Otis Bryce Rose III (Sharon), David Anthony Rose, Barbara Rose Lawhorne and Kimberly Rose Murray (Steve); step-daughter, Gail Miller Howell (Dennis); and a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Velora Redd Moore and Bonnie Redd Snow (Roger) as well as many other beloved family members.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by seven siblings.

A funeral was held Sunday, Sept. 25 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Burial followed in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
