Two female track and field athletes at Bluestone High School turned in strong efforts at the VHSL Group A State track meet at Radford University on Saturday.
Tiffany Davis, a junior competing in the shot put, placed eighth in the state with a toss of 33 feet, six inches. The winning throw of 40 feet, 5-1/2 inches by Alexis Brown of James River High School was more than a foot better than the next longest toss.

Davis and Carpenter scored a point each for Bluestone in the points competition, placing Bluestone 36th. The Group A team title went to James River.
Bluestone’s 4×100 girls relay team also competed in the state meet, finishing 11th. The team of Alexis Oliver, Ay’Sha Wesley, Bria Long, Brittney Terry and Chantia Burchett (alt) recorded a time of 52.01 seconds in the race.
