“This was what Coach (Brady) Taylor and I have been looking for to start the season the past two years.

“All of the guys came out ready to play. We had lost 7-2 and 5-4 the last few seasons to Randolph Henry in our opening scrimmage, so this was a great turnaround for us.

“Coach Howard has done a tremendous job with their program over the years, producing state championship singles players and state team contenders as well,” noted coach David Riddle.

“We started with doubles, and it was great to be able to sweep there. Coach Taylor and I were a little concerned with doubles, since Monday was the first day of practice that we had been able to concentrate on that area.

“Doubles has also been an area over the past few seasons that we have lost some close matches due to poor play there.

“But all three teams played together last season, and that experience showed on the court today.

“Singles play was very solid as well. To sweep singles and win our singles exhibition as well was very satisfying. This was the type of momentum that we needed going into our official start of the regular season against Martinsville on Friday,” said Riddle.
