Comet jayvees romp over Patrick

The Halifax County High School boys jayvee basketball team romped to an easy win Friday at Patrick County.

Halifax is 2-0 after a 58-27 decision at Patrick County.

Myquan Williams paced the offense and Tyree Dunkley, playing forward, turned in a solid effort. Otis Slayton also played well at power forward.

Halifax looked a tad sluggish early, according to coach Hakeem Pettus. But the Comets picked up the intensity from its 1-2-1-1 full court press, creating turnovers and high percentage scoring opportunities.

At one point, Halifax delivered five straight steals, leading to five easy layups. The Comets rolled from there.

Halifax takes on Dan River Tuesday in its season home opener.
