Comets girls drop Tunstall in soccer


The Halifax County High School varsity girls soccer team defeated Tunstall, 5-2, in Piedmont District action Tuesday.

Tylik Brandon scored first for the Comets, at about the seven minute mark. Teya Walton added the second goal.

Tunstall tied the game with two goals before the half.

Emily Slayton, Gabby Nelson and Walton added three more goals for the Comets in the second half.

Halifax is now 2-2.

Comet keeper Sabrina Amos had a strong game, with 12 saves.

Comet coach Sid Young made a note to praise the following Comets for strong efforts in the win, including Lucy Morrison, Hannah Glass, Keeley Nelson, Maddie Tingen, Ashley Bryant and Madison Puryear.

Young also commended Paige Nichols and Jessica Hudson for excellent work at midfield.

The Comet girls are home against Patrick County Friday.
